The artist residencies are one of the most important novelties at MACRO. The four areas on the second floor of the historical, each around 160 sqm, will be transformed into four artist studios, equipped with materials, instruments, and IT ware. Two apartments in the new building wing be assigned to two foreign artists, while the two Italian resident artists will live outside.
A committee formed by the curators of the Museum and other high professionals of the art world will select the four artists that will take part in the program through an international announcement which will be divided into two cycles of four months each. The eight artists will be selected on the basis of a new project especially conceived for the spaces of the Museum, to be made during the residency in Rome.
