MACRO’s Media Library is available to the public and visitors of the Museum, as a centre that provides documents and information about contemporary art. It is aimed at establishing a direct relationship between the Museum and its visitors. Users may have access to specialist information according to the topics and authors as related to collections, activities, exhibitions, and events. Thanks to the use of advanced technology, the public is able to access multi-medial information and documents, and at the same time, the safeguarding and preservation of original documents is guaranteed. The Library has an important heritage that comprises around 5,000 volumes dedicated to the artists that are featured in the museum’s permanent collection, as well as documents concerning lesser works exhibited in Rome during the 60s, and female artists who worked in Rome between the 40s and 70s.
Specialist assistance is available for those wishing to research databases and catalogues.
Online documents and services are also available, as well are texts on CD-Rom, VHS, DVD, virtual museums, thematic-based access to Internet on art websites and MACRO’s own multimedia databases and archives.
